Police Rescue 10-Week-Old Puppy Abandoned In Box On The Side Of The Road

Officer Earl Hanners got a strange report about someone discovering a defenseless 10-week-old puppy in a box on the side of the road as he was reacting to a vehicle collision outside Atlanta, Georgia. Hanners was occupied with the automobile collision while another cop made the call to animal control. But as soon as Hanners was able, he left to assist him on his own dime.

“It was secured and contained in a cardboard box. When a bystander observed the puppy inside the box and stopped, he opened it, released the animal, gave him some water, and then dialed 911.

Holder stated:

“I advised him to revoke the animal control. I’m going to the veterinarian to get the dog checked out.

The puppy was overheated and dehydrated, laying on the edge of the box when Hanners arrived on the scene.

The puppy, who turned out to be a woman he named Bridget, was picked up by Hanners, who then put her in his squad vehicle.

“I placed her on the back porch before calling my veterinarian to let them know I had her. I fed and hydrated her before letting her rest, unwind, and raise her body temperature. She drank water and consumed three or four plates of food.
