Dog Found Alone At Airport With Heartbreaking Note From His Owner

Unfortunately, the owner of this adorable dog had no choice but to abandon him.

Chewy, a 3-month-old Chihuahua, was discovered alone and wounded in a Las Vegas airport washroom over the weekend. Though most people think of pet abandonment as a cruel act, it quickly became evident that in this situation, it was an act of grace.

A handwritten note from Chewy’s owner was discovered alongside him, telling how they had fled cruelty together — a frantic escape that, heartbreakingly, ended up separating them:

“Hi! Chewy, Chewy, Chewy, Chewy, Chewy, Che My owner was in an unhealthy relationship and couldn’t afford to pay for my plane ticket. She didn’t want to leave me with her whole heart, but she didn’t have a choice. When we were arguing, my ex-boyfriend kicked my dog, and he now has a large knot on his head. He’ll most likely require the services of a veterinarian. I adore Chewy, and I beg you to cherish and care for him.”

Chewy wasn’t alone for long, thankfully. He was brought to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue by a kind Samaritan, where president and founder Linda Gilliam first learned about his background.

Gilliam told The Dodo, “My heart plummeted to my knees.” “I accepted him without hesitation and told my foster to bring him to an ER right away.”

Chewy was on his way to recovery — and a happier life — with that.

The lady who was forced to abandon Chewy is still unknown, but Gilliam believes that by sharing their story, it can assist other people who have dogs that are in violent circumstances. If evacuating with a pet isn’t possible, local animal rescue organizations can care for them in the meanwhile, ensuring that both of you survive. In these situations, shelters will frequently aid in finding a method to keep dogs and their owners together.

“As a whole, this is a tremendously underappreciated issue,” Gilliam added. “We also wanted to convey to Chewy’s mother that she did a heroic thing by rescuing him, and that he is safe and will have a wonderful life.”
