Puppies Left In Dumpster Are So Happy When People Come To Save Them

A guy came into the San Antonio Pets Alive! veterinary clinic last Friday and sought to surrender two emaciated 3-month-old pups. Employees led the man to a nearby no-kill shelter, where he was observed leaving with the dogs — but he didn’t go very far.

Four hours later, an employee at a local meat market opened the dumpster at his business to discover the two pups tossed out like rubbish. The kennel supervisor raced over after he reported the abandoned canines to the clinic.

It was evident from the minute she raised the lid that the small dogs were relieved to be secure.

“When we provided them food and affection, they quickly cuddled up to our kennel supervisor and were all tail wags,” Kylie Brasher, the medical clinic’s director, told The Dodo. “They were bathed since they were flea-infested, and we could tell it was a new experience for them because they liked the food!”

Clinic personnel could see how badly the puppies had been mistreated by their previous owner up close.

Both puppies, now called Crockett and Bowie, were underweight and tested positive for ringworm and other parasites. Staffers noticed Bowie trying his utmost to protect and care for his sibling when they initially arrived at the clinic. Bowie would wrap his body around Crockett to keep him warm and share everything he had.

“When Crockett refused to eat, Bowie would take chunks of his kibble and place them next to his face,” Brasher explained. “I’ve never seen a dog accomplish something like that!”

“Their friendship is really touching,” Brasher continued.

Crockett was diagnosed with canine parvovirus, a very dangerous and occasionally fatal disease, and the puppy brothers were forced to be separated for the time being.
