After Being Rescued, Kitten Keeps Her Lamb With Her Everywhere She Goes

Wrenn Rescues, a California-based animal shelter, took in a litter of kittens that need immediate medical treatment earlier this year. Matilda Beans, the youngest of the litter, was in poor condition and was fighting an illness in her upper respiratory system.

The other kittens were able to overcome their health issues and improve, but Matilda became increasingly ill and was in a serious condition.

Ashley Kelley, a volunteer at the shelter who specializes in newborn and special needs cats, chose to adopt the kitten.

The lady stated:

“Because I have ICU teams at my house, it was agreed that she should come to my house to get better.”

Following a medical examination, it was discovered that the kitten was suffering from a variety of health issues, including a serious case of pneumonia. Despite the vet’s grim prognosis, the kitten appeared to be clinging to life with all her might, and Ashley was willing to give it a go.

The mother worked diligently over the following few days to help Matilda recuperate, giving her nebulizer treatments, medicines, and supportive care.

Matilda Beans appeared grateful for Ashley’s assistance, so she turned around to stroke her stomach.

Ashley had this to say:

“He had a strong will and a great desire to live, therefore he did.” We were warned she’d become blind, but her (corneal) ulcers have fully healed and she’s seeing perfectly again. It astounds me!

Little Matilda had to be confined in a room and spent much of her recuperation period in an incubator, where she didn’t know anyone.

Ashley, realizing how lonely she was, tried to surround herself with plush animals to offer some comfort. The cute cat enjoyed the companionship of her toys, but quickly settled on one of the plushies as her favorite.

Ashley continued:

“When she was approximately three weeks old, I gave her Lamby Beans (a lamb toy) as a buddy, and she liked it right away.” I slept close to him every night.

Matilda continued to seek solace and company in her faithful stuffed lamb, which she licked as if it were her baby, as the days passed. Matilda’s best buddy, Lamby Beans, is always wrapped in her arms and combs him till she goes comfortably asleep.

Matilda has spent a lot of time with her favorite teddy since meeting him, and it appears that she has no plans to part with him. She insisted on keeping her stuffed lamb close by even after she was fit and healthy to move into another room and make new companions.

As Ashley put it,

“She simply adores her child.”

The lovely kitty has turned into a tiny uncontrollable train, always searching for trouble and someone with whom to play and have fun. Matilda is always seeking for her little lamb to cuddle up with and snooze with when she needs to refresh.

The lovely Matilda has reached a weight of two pounds as a result of the treatment and is on her road to a bright future. She is a fearless and inquisitive kitten who is not scared of dogs, huge cats, or loud noises, and she has made two wonderful pals.

Ashley continued:

“She’s been a great buddy to Attis and Odahviing (two special-needs kitties) and keeps them on their toes.”

Matilda still adores her trusty companion Lamby and takes him with her everywhere she goes, despite the passage of time.

Matilda is no longer a kitten and has grown into an attractive young cat who is healthy, mischievous, and lively.
