The Amazing Transformation Of A ‘Werewolf’ Who Has Been Waiting For Months By The Road

People believed King was a monster just six months ago.

The stray dog was covered in scabs and slumped over in distress by the side of the road in Madera Ranchos, California. His skin was scaly, and his unkempt black hair on the back of his neck sprang straight up.

Passers-by began to refer to him as the werewolf since they didn’t know what sort of animal he was and were afraid to go close enough to find out.

Cars passed King day after day for months. He was hurt, ill, and hungry. He didn’t have much time left. But then came his miracle.

Megan Bowe, a local rescuer, raced to King’s side after seeing a post about him on the internet. He was sicker and more weak than she had ever imagined.

Bowe, creator of Bowe’s Adoptable Rescue Pups, told The Dodo in May, “I was almost ready to cry when I realized how ill off he was.” “It was clear that he was on his final legs.” He was despondent to the point of being unable to stand.”

Bowe immediately recognized “the werewolf” as a sick German dog. She took him to an emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with scabies, a shattered pelvis, and a severely damaged tail, among other illnesses. He was just around a year old, according to the vets, and his injuries were most likely caused by being hit by a car.

King had already been through far more than any animal should in just a year.

Bowe and a team of vets treated the ailing dog back to health over the following three months. He needed a slew of drugs, surgery, and physical therapy, but as the days passed, he began to see the light. His hair began to regrow, and he was able to walk once again.

And, even better, he demonstrated to Bowe how sweet-natured he truly was, almost as if he was thanking her.

Bowe described him as a “very affectionate dog.” “If I sit down, his face is right next to mine, and he leans in as if hugging me.”

King was finally available for adoption at the end of the summer after months of recuperation, care, and affection. He didn’t realize it at the time, but the perfect family had been rooting for him the entire time.

Tiana Bisbee, her dad, and her sister had been keeping a close check on King’s growth on Facebook. They already had three dogs and were looking to add to their herd by adopting another.

Bisbee told The Dodo, “We’d never seen any dog in as horrible state as he was.” “It was heartbreaking. We knew we wanted to see him since I had been following his growth.”

King was introduced to the family, along with their three dogs, and everyone got along swimmingly.

“We thought he would be terrified given what he’d been through,” Bisbee added, “but he was just very nice.” “His hair had grown back entirely, and he appeared to be in excellent health.”

King was adopted by the Bisbees immediately after meeting him, and he’s been a part of their family for about two months. He’s having a great time running about with his three dog sisters, who have been the finest treatment in helping him come out of his shell.

“It took him approximately a month to learn how to be a dog from the females,” Bisbee explained. “He blended in perfectly with the rest of the group. They’ve shown him how to navigate the yard and the home. He’ll bark at the same persons they’re barking at, and he’ll run where they’re running. It’s so much joy to see them interact.”

Bowe is grateful for his happy ending after witnessing what King has gone through. She just celebrated his adoption by throwing a party for him.

“Seeing King in such a wonderful permanent home feels incredibly fulfilling,” Bowe added. “He’s very happy, and he’s bonding with the other dogs and his new owners so well… It’s difficult to believe that all those automobiles passed him by without ever stopping. Because he looked so awful, no one wanted to bring him home or help him… But it just took one person.”
