Dog That Was Tied To A Rock And Thrown Into The River Has A New Opportunity

Bella is a loving German shepherd dog who had a traumatic experience in January of last year, when she nearly drowned in the River Trent at Long Lane, Farndon, United Kingdom, after her previous family abandoned her there. The terrified and helpless puppy was discovered tethered to a rock in the ocean. Bella fought for her life for several hours.

Thankfully, two female dog walkers named Jane Harper and Joanne Bellamy happened to pass by and heard the poor puppy’s screaming.

Bella was transported to the clinic for emergency treatment as soon as she was rescued. She was taken to the RSPCA rescue facility once they were able to stabilize her.

Bella survived with a boulder around her neck and frigid water, but an emergency visit to the vet revealed that she had a few additional health concerns to contend with.

Staff at Nottingham’s Radcliffe Animal Center looked after Bella. Meanwhile, the charity and the police were on the lookout for the individual guilty for the heinous acts that the sweet little child had to undergo.

After pleading guilty to inflicting needless pain to her cat, Charlene Latham, 32, was sentenced to a 12-month community order last month.

Charlene, who now lives in Devon, told the court that she pleaded with her ex-partner Leigh Johnson, 33, not to harm the dog. However, she never sought help, and the RSPCA found it lacked evidence to pursue Johnson, who also disputed the allegations.

 – Nottingham Magistrates Court fined the lady £80 and ordered her to pay the victim £200 in costs and extras. For three years, she was also denied the privilege to own pets.

The lovely puppy spent the previous 15 months in the care of the RSPCA, where she made a full recovery and found a permanent home. Maggie Mellish and Charlie Douglas, Bella’s new parents, are a retired couple who look after her and provide her with all the love she requires.

Bella, 11, is the perfect match for the family, who reside in a beautiful village in South Derbyshire. They have previously had other dogs and are eager to provide her with the affection she so desperately requires.

Bella had been cared for by the center until now, and the couple wanted to spend some time together before she moved home with them. Jane Harper and Joanne Bellamy, the ladies who rescued Bella, were also present.

Maggie, Bella’s new mom, said they understand their new companion is an elderly dog in her golden years, but they want to give her the home she so rightfully deserves after everything she’s gone through.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair said:

“We were shocked by what happened to Bella, and when we met her, we recognized what a wonderful personality she had, and she is truly ideal for us.”
