Anderson Bahi observed something he will never forget while traveling home the other night.
It was a scene of unadulterated affection.
“I was driving along when I noticed an ambulance parked on the other side of the road,” Bahi explained to The Dodo.
It turned out that while out walking his dog, a man had suddenly become unwell on the pavement.
When first responders carried the man into the ambulance to transport him to the hospital, his small dog leaped onto the back bumper and demanded to be taken with him.
Although Bahi could only observe from afar, one thing was clearly evident.
“This dog’s affection for her owner is something extraordinary,” Bahi remarked. “A devoted love.”
Fortunately, the ambulance staff was not unaware of this fact. They opened the doors before leaving so the sweet puppy could stay by her owner’s side.
But the dog’s show of devotion didn’t end there.
When the dog’s owner arrived at the hospital, he was wheeled inside.
Meanwhile, the dog sat patiently outside the hospital’s entrance, waiting for him to return.
It wasn’t long before Maria Lcia Muniz, a local animal rescuer who lives near the hospital, learnt about the dog standing guard at the hospital door. She offered to give her a place to stay for the night.
Fortunately, the dog didn’t have to wait long — and her loyalty paid off.
Muniz told The Dodo, “It was quite emotional.” “Thank goodness, the owner was only in the hospital for 45 minutes.” His family arrived to transport him and his dog back to their house.”
