After Spending Much of His Life as a Stray, a Cat’s Dream Has Finally Come True
This 6-year-old tom cat was found severely ill five months ago and brought to Chatons Orphelins Montréal for emergency medical treatment. “The kitten resided in a residential area (in Montreal, Canada).
He made it through the winter because he was able to care for himself, despite the fact that one of his ears had frozen “Celine Crom, a rescuer, shared her story with Love Meow.
“People in the area fed him, but he had no one to look after him. He was a large alley cat who everyone has seen before.”
Despite having food, he became unwell after years of living on the streets had taken their toll. They took him to the veterinarian, where they learned he was not neutered, had battle scars, and tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). His clothing smelled like sewage, and his eyes were extremely watery.
Because his nose was fully blocked, Barney had difficulties breathing. Due to frostbite, one of his ears had withered, and he would require dental therapy as well as parasite and ear mite treatments.
Despite his numerous medical problems, all he wanted were some cuddles and ear rubs.
“This huge teddy bear came directly to us for some attention,” the rescue continued. “He had extremely big cheeks, strong muscles, and he had to be the king of his area.”
To assist him combat his ailments, Barney was prescribed medicine. He was finally recovered and ready for his neuter operation after two months of recuperation.
“When he came back after spending the winter outside, he had a lot of damage.” He was fortunate that we discovered him in time to help him. When Barney is sleeping, he now snores a little. Because of the incision on his eyelid, one of his eyes is still a little watery.

Barney was cared after by Mathilde and Patricia during his ordeal.
He was shy at first, often trying to hide from people or loud noises, but that changed when he was placed in foster care and experienced love and caring.
“In just a few weeks, he adapted extremely quickly and changed so much,” the rescuers added.
Barney has lost his fear. He’s content and confident. “He enjoys being the center of attention and requests hugs on a daily basis. The scared young boy has grown into a true teddy bear who enjoys waiting at the entrance for visitors.”

The cute little kid moved over on his back, begging for belly rubs.
Barney’s wish came true six months after his rescue.

Barney has finally found a home to call his own after years of roving the streets.
