Otavio was rescued by Joice Lamas and her husband from an animal rescue organization after being freed from an abusive home where he shared space with other mistreated canines. Otavio was first wary of approaching others, despite the fact that he was already secure and his physical injuries had healed.
Joice stated to The Dodo:
“We haven’t been separated since the first time we saw him.”
Joice has witnessed Otavio thrive since he moved into his new house. The timid dog that retreated when someone tried to pat him now enjoys cuddling. The unseen wounds from his prior existence do, however, manifest themselves in other ways, most notably in the way he consumes.
Even though it has been a year since Otavio was saved, the dog consistently leaves half of the food Joice puts in his dish.
Otavio’s motives are unknown, although his family surmises they have something to do with the years he was abandoned. It’s possible that the food in his previous home was so sparse that he had to learn to preserve some of what he received for the other starving canines nearby.
“That is sad. I continually reassure him, “Eating everything is OK.”
Otavio will eventually understand that he will be able to eat anything he wants and that he won’t be abused in this home. They are devoted to supporting you at every turn.
“I am aware that neither food nor love will ever be a problem for you. We strive to bring him the most happiness we can.
