Woman Adopts A Wolf From A Shelter That Would Not Have Survived In The Wild

Puppies being abandoned by their mothers is unusual in the animal realm, but it does happen. Fortunately, there are individuals who look after the welfare of all sorts of animals, like Alida did with a wolf pup that was rejected by her mother at a shelter.

Kira is a wolf that was abandoned by her mother at the age of three days and was unable to thrive in the wild. Kira’s mother refused to accept her and her brothers, so the shelter personnel had to make a decision about what to do with them.

The shelter workers looked after the tiny ones and fed them by hand so that they would have the nutrition they needed to thrive.

Meanwhile, the shelter staff was on the lookout for permanent homes for the children so that they would have a greater chance of surviving their new lives and growing up without incident.

Things were not simple, though, because they were born in a shelter and had little experience living in the wild. Fortunately, Alida, a Russian woman, emerged and chose to take Kira in, providing her with all of the care she required as well as a permanent home.

Alida explained to Bored Panda:

“When she was 28 days old, I took her out of daycare.” She is intelligent yet obstinate. She is more concerned with herself than with me while making decisions. I began the process of socializing her from the beginning. She encountered a large number of dogs, people, and children ».

The only way to offer Kira a second chance was to teach her to be a pet, which Alida was happy to do.

Because wolves are generally afraid of new things in their environment, his socialization was an important part of his upbringing.

The woman accompanied Kira to several locations so that she might become acquainted with the scents and noises of a new environment.

Alida stated,

“It was a lengthy, arduous process, but it was vital for Kira to be able to live with me in an urban setting and feel at ease.”

Many issues arose throughout training, but they were all resolved over time, and the hard effort eventually paid off.

Her domestic demeanor emerged, and she began to mingle with people, refusing to respond to other dogs’ hostility and attempting to remain calm. Kira became used to the contemporary world and engaged on hundreds of experiences, eventually developing into an incredible and courageous tame wolf.
