A Good Samaritan observed something that prompted her stop while traveling on a bitterly cold night in Ontario, Canada, over the weekend.
A shivering stray dog was snuggled up on a wintry roadside.
She wasn’t, however, alone.
Despite the fact that the dog might have sought a safer area to spend the night, she wasn’t only thinking about herself.
Closer inspection revealed that the sweet puppy had wrapped herself around five orphaned kittens, whom she was snuggling to keep warm in the freezing circumstances.
The Good Samaritan, in turn, rescued them all by transporting them to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue center. But by that time, the dog and the kittens had built an unbelievable attachment.
The facts of this case made one thing plain to rescue workers: the dog had saved the kittens’ lives.
A spokesman for the shelter told The Dodo, “It’s absolutely touching!” “It had been a really chilly night, and these kittens would have struggled to survive.”
The kittens are now secure, but they will need flea and worm treatment. Meanwhile, the loving stray dog who rescued them persists on visiting them on a daily basis, as if she were a proud mother, to keep an eye on their growth.
