Young dogs require not just time and commitment, but they are also quite demanding of their owners and want to be the focus of attention. Older animals, on the other hand, are calmer, simpler to care for, and have already been taught.
As a result, they frequently advise individuals who want to adopt to choose an older pet since they are simpler to care for. Unfortunately, people continue to prefer young animals, leaving older animals to spend extended periods of time in shelters waiting for a home.
A really remarkable incident, however, occurred a few days ago with the oldest cat in an animal shelter in North Carolina, United States.
Gus, a 19-year-old cat, ended up at the shelter when his owner had to abandon him because he could no longer care for him.
According to the Humane Society of Catawba County, Gus proved to be very exceptional, personable, and he captured everyone’s attention from the time he arrived.
Despite her adorable demeanor and winning the hearts of all the shelter personnel, no one expected her to find a home so quickly. After barely a month in the shelter, the lucky cat was adopted by a family.
Penny, a 101-year-old grandma, was seeking for a new pet when her last cat died, but she preferred an older companion. So when they met the darling Gus at the shelter, they knew he was the one chosen to fill this lovely spot in the family.
Being an older cat didn’t seem to make it harder for him to find a new home; on the contrary, it may have aided him in doing so. The grandmother’s adoption application came quickly, and the shelter just wished them luck.
On Facebook, the shelter stated:
“This precious adoption has filled our [hearts].” PAW, our 19-year-old great-grandfather (133 in human years), has found a loving home with his new mother, who is 101.
Gus and Penny instantly linked when he arrived home, and they created a lovely friendship as if they knew they needed each other. Gus immediately acclimated to his surroundings and began to roam around the house like a genuine monarch.
The cute cat is already thoroughly enjoying his new home, and he frequently observes the squirrels through the window.
