Abandoned Dog Is Now A Bird Danger Officer At An Airport

A stray dog infiltrated the Olaya Herrera Airport’s restricted area in December 2016 in Medelln, Colombia. The firemen and the bird danger team had to move forward to catch the dog because it posed a risk to operational safety after a complaint from the airport police sent off the alarms about the presence of the animal in the hangar area. The dog’s entire world was turned upside down, and she is now an airport bird danger officer.

The dog was easily captured by bird danger officers (OPA), who also reported the incident to the city’s environmental authorities and made contact with organizations that care for animals to take the dog in since she could not stay in the airport.

Seneca was therefore taken to the identification classes where participants learn about and comprehend the significance of security procedures at the airport by Maria Andrea Candela Solano, a bird danger officer and firefighter, in the hopes that someone would adopt her. However, the dog was not adopted. made it home.

Additionally, Seneca wasn’t looking for a home on the José Mara Córdova International Airport’s social media platforms.

Seneca is named after a plane that flies into the Olaya Herrera Airport, but they were unaware that since the airport was already her home, she was unable to locate another.

Seneca gradually started to exhibit the traits of a tracker, a very active, quick, and obedient dog with the ideal profile to work as an avian danger officer.

Seneca is now formally the first adopted mestizo dog to be employed as a bird danger officer in Colombia after her friends acquired her initial vaccinations, food, and dishes for the new team member. Later, Airplan, the airport operating firm, connected her directly to the company.

Ms. Maria Andrea

We are grateful to Jorge Hugo Duarte, the airport manager, for his willingness to permit the completion of this unique and creative project at the Olaya Herrera.

Seneca is expected to take part in the reactive intervention processes at the airport, where all dispersal techniques are used to keep birds away from the area used for aircraft movement and maneuvering.
