This Policeman Comforts A Lost Kitten At The Police Station And Decides To Be His New Dad

Mike Cardin, a Lakeland police officer in Polk County, Florida, was on duty on a Saturday night when he came across a cute cat wandering about by itself beneath a utility pole close to a major junction. The kitten was soon taken to the station by Cardin after being picked up.

Animal control was scheduled to come and pick her up, but before they could, Sergeant Brian Wallance started his shift. The cage was too big for her, so the officer squeezed her into a cardboard box.

Wallace decided to keep her company throughout her shift as soon as he learned about the station’s newest occupant since, for some reason, he just couldn’t let her alone.

Wallace said to The Dodo:

I went to check on her when I got to the station shortly after Cardin had rescued her. She was there, afraid and insecure. She hadn’t been outside for very long after the shift began, so I just couldn’t keep her out for another 10 hours just so animal control could remove her.

The cat was placed on Wallace’s lap while he worked at the desk, and although she was first a little frightened and uneasy, she eventually decided to sit down and looked to be extremely at ease with Wallace.

Even though the policeman had to depart on a patrol, he didn’t abandon his new acquaintance.
