This Dog Was Abandoned In A Shelter Twice By Her Old Family, But A Woman Changed Her Life

She was upset when her family left this aging dog named Lady at a shelter in Kansas, USA, in 2014. Lady was sent back to the same shelter after being sent away twice because she was devoted to them but managed to escape and go a considerable distance home.

Lady, a black Labrador, had a change in her life when her owners chose to surrender her to a nearby animal shelter. Before being transferred to the shelter, Lady was able to escape and travel an incredible 30 miles on foot to get back to the family who had abandoned her.

However, the cruel family took Lady back to the same shelter to dump her a second time rather than retaining their wonderfully devoted dog.

After being left behind twice, Lady seems destined to live out her senior years in that animal shelter. The most lovely part, though, was that a woman made the decision to save Lady.

When Helen Rich, an heiress to the Wrigley Company, learned of Lady’s tale, she made the decision to assist the elderly dog. Owner of a sizable estate in Florida, Helen instructed her servants to bring Lady there to join her expanding pack of spoiled canines.

She has more than 100 adoptive animals residing on her 120-acre Florida farm, where she is well recognized for her love of animals.

In an interview with CBS News, Helen stated:

“For the love of God, she’s already had three rejections. Not tomorrow, not next week, but right now, she needs a home.”

A member of Helen’s staff then flew Lady from Kansas to Florida to live on Helen’s property using Helen’s personal aircraft. One of her employees, Chet Ragsdale, claimed that Lady even glanced out the window of the aircraft at her new home as it touched down in Tampa, calling the experience “the most emotional part.”

She said:

She won’t ever experience fear or loneliness again.

Helen has more than 100 rescued animals on the property, including a number of dogs, cats, and even some agricultural animals.
