Airline Dlies With Cabin Full Of Dogs And Cats Rescued From Hurricane Harvey, Find Out How To Help Here

Southwest Airlines is a Dallas, Texas-based American low-cost carrier that is assisting rescued pets from Hurricane Harvey in finding their ultimate homes. In order to make space for pets whose owners are now living outside of their homes, 64 dogs and cats from Texas shelters were transported to San Diego, California, on Wednesday.

In order to move the 64 animals following their 1,400-mile voyage, Southwest Airlines worked with Operation Pets Alive! in Texas and the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) in San Diego.

To help the organization and treat shelter animals, four HWAC medical staff members went to Texas.

HWAC Chairman Mike Arms stated:

The silent victims are those. Hurricane Harvey destroyed shelters, leaving them without electricity or food.

“Operation Pets Alive! has taken a disproportionate amount of orphaned dogs and cats that had been in those shelters prior to the disaster and were suddenly facing death simply because they had nowhere to go,” says the organization.

We are fortunate to have incredible friends like Southwest who help make this all possible, and we are pleased to contribute to saving their lives.
