Dad Heartbroken After Losing His 2 Dogs Breaks Down In Tears When He Sees Birthday Card

Our dogs become lifelong friends that provide us happiness, solace, and affection. We grieve when they pass away because it’s like losing a family member because we feel like a piece of ourselves dies with them. You don’t hear them walking down the hallway or sense them reaching out to touch you. When you enter the room, you anticipate being welcomed, only to be told once more that they have left.

When James Xuereb’s family presented him with a Bichon Frize puppy as a surprise, he was overjoyed. They caught the man’s response on tape as he sobbed in appreciation for the new member of the family after recently losing both of his pets.

Jaleen Xuereb and her mother, Wanda Xuereb, realized it was time to bring home a new puppy when they overheard her father talking to his still-living dog, Mini, about wanting a companion.

When James’ family realized how much he missed them, they planned a thoughtful birthday surprise for him.

His daughter handed him an envelope with a sentimental message they had written from the puppy’s point of view to James as he sat on the couch in an effort to brighten his day.

The envelope said:

“James, your birthday present is about to arrive.”

She instructed him to read the card aloud, but as he opened the envelope and glanced at the front, which included a picture of a dog, he started crying. She gave it to her daughter to read to her because she could hardly read the first phrase.

The note read:

Greetings, I’m Lumo. I am a Bichon guy. I cannot be Lucy, nor am I Nemo. To make you a bit happier, my mother sent me here. So that as we go through life together, we may both make amazing memories of our own and remember the lovely times you shared with Nemo and Lucy. Lumo, with love.

In honor of him, the family gave him the loving name Lumo, a mix of Lucy and Nemo.
