German Shepherd Maverick, age 8, was distraught and depressed after his owners left him at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California. Maverick went from being in a house to being in a cage after spending so much time with them without justification or understanding.
The poor canine was in such shock that he wouldn’t look anyone in the eye inside the shelter. He was truly terribly depressed. It can be more challenging to find a home for an older dog, so it’s probable that Maverick’s time in the shelter was running out since he was undoubtedly going to be put on the euthanasia list.
The family recognized his unhappiness right away. They were aware of all that had taken place. They only wanted to provide him with the loving home he deserved. He would never have to leave his house.
Maverick was escorted from his kennel as they went to pick him up. It almost seems as though he believes he made a mistake. He seemed so frightened! He was given a new leash by his new humans. He received some consoling pats before being led out of the shelter and into a new existence filled with love and optimism.
Maverick came to understand that he wasn’t in trouble when he pulled into the parking lot; at that point, he understood what was actually happening.
With these lovely individuals, he will travel anywhere! His head turns away from the ground at that point, and you can see the joy and appreciation on his face as they load him into the vehicle.
