This Neglected Dog Was So Scared He Wouldn’t Let Anyone Comfort Him At The Shelter

Animal control authorities discovered this puppy chained up in a forested location close to Dalton, Georgia, USA, two and a half weeks ago. He was bound to a hefty chain that was attached to a tree by someone who had put a tight leather belt around his neck.

The poor thing was filthy, scrawny, and scared. Whatever took place to this dog must have been terrible.

Director of Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR), Courtney Bellew, stated to The Dodo:

This dog clearly had a very difficult history. We probably won’t ever fully understand what he endured, but the circumstances of his discovery suggest that he lived a rather miserable existence before to being saved.

The dog, now known as Stewart, was given to the Whitfield County Animal Shelter by the police, but no one was able to approach him.

Courtney :

“He did not want to be bothered or touched. He would snarl before cowering in a corner with his back to the wall. He was completely shaken and shut.

Even the leather belt Stewart was wearing couldn’t be taken off by the shelter staff.

Courtney :

“Every time someone approached him, he would become so anxious that they would say, “You know what? Let’s simply let him to unwind. So, nobody even made an attempt to approach him over the first several days. They made no attempt to exert pressure on him.”

Stewart’s troubles with fear made it clear to Rebecca Rood, a volunteer at the Whitfield County Animal Shelter, that she would have trouble finding a home.

Rebekah stated:

“It appeared as though he didn’t want them to see him and thought that if he hid himself in the wall, we may go. It was quite painful to witness.”

However, Rebecca was adamant about aiding Stewart, so she snapped some photos of herself and shared them on Facebook. At that moment, Courtney noticed it.

Courtney :

“I’ll take him,” I said after seeing the image of his face against the wall.

Stewart was rescued by Courtney, who then brought him to the veterinarian. The belt was eventually allowed to be taken off of Stewart’s neck when the vet placed him under anesthetic for his neutering and to do certain tests. Without the belt, Stewart appeared to be an entirely different dog when he awoke.
