A Homeless Man’s Dogs Wait Patiently At The Hospital Gate

At the Alto Vale Regional Hospital in Rio Do Sul, Brazil, health worker Ana Cristina Mamprim and her coworkers saw a touching scenario. Outside the hospital, four dogs kept watch as they awaited the arrival of a homeless patient in need of medical assistance.

Around three in the morning on Sunday, Cézar Gonçalves checked into the hospital to obtain care and medicine for a health issue he was having.

Ana Cristina and the other staff members questioned Cézar about his condition and background as he typically receives care at another institution in the city. They quickly came to the conclusion that his new patient was not alone.

The devoted dogs settled at the doorway to wait for their companion, excited yet patient. They wouldn’t have to wait for long, though.

The patient, a recycler of materials, received treatment, medication, and discharge within an hour. According to G1, hospital employees captured the event on camera and posted pictures to social media.

More than 100,000 people have “liked” the picture of the dogs waiting for their owners at the hospital door on Facebook.

Despite having little tangible belongings, Cézar has many close friends.

His four dogs, Baby, Nick, Menina, and Tico, usually go with him. Five years ago, the first was adopted. The other three joined after that.

Says Cezar

I go outside around 4 o’clock, when it’s a bit cooler, to collect the recycling, and they travel with me everywhere I go.

He divides the food he consumes during the day to feed the animals. He further revealed that he frequently skips meals to make sure his pets are nourished.

Cézar claims he had no idea that filming the scene in the hospital would have such an impact. He considers receiving pet attention to be natural and cannot fathom living without them.

He stated:

I am nothing without animals, he said.

Ana Cristina, for her part, stated to The Dodo:

“Everyone is fat and well taken care of. She clearly loves and cares for herself if she can see them waiting at the door like way.

The pets Cézar has make him happy.
The staff opted to bring their dogs inside rather than separating them while they updated Cézar on the medication he required. They provided food for him and his pets in the interim.

“Believe me, he ate some and subsequently kept some to feed the dogs.”
