The Last Wish Of This Man With ALS Is To Find A Home For His Beloved Dog

John has ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a neurological system illness that weakens muscles and impairs bodily functions, and he now uses a wheelchair to go around. Despite this, he thought he was still capable of providing a caring home for a shelter dog.

John simply cannot picture his life without his dog. So he went to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in California and met Pawpaw, an 11-year-old dog. John and Pawpaw, who were both elderly, quickly connected and became a family.

Pawpaw is the 13th dog John has had in his life, and he can’t think of a better companion. Despite his sickness, John has enjoyed every day of the previous two years spent by Pawpaw’s side, which have been filled with affection.

Unfortunately, John’s health has been fast deteriorating, so he must plan for the future, and nothing is more essential to John right now than finding his beloved Pawpaw a permanent home once he is gone.

Muttville’s creator, Sherri Franklin, told The Dodo:

“Pawpaw is his family, and it’s heartbreaking to think that John may be leaving us soon. I am happy to assist Pawpaw in finding a new family.”

When their beloved person dies, many animals become homeless, thus John’s notion about Pawpaw’s future is especially consoling in light of what may happen.

Sherri stated:

“When someone dies, their dog is generally sent to a local animal shelter, where it may be killed if a home is not found promptly. Muttville contains dogs from all walks of life, but the ones that truly appeal to me are those that have had a beautiful home until their guardian dies or enters a care facility, [and] their entire existence is flipped upside down.”

That is why the Muttville Seniors for Seniors program is beneficial to both humans and animals. Sherri explains that some senior persons who have lost their own pets frequently seek an experienced companion.

Sherri claims that even though Pawpaw is 13 years old, he still acts like a puppy. She said he is usually happy and that he adores all the folks he knows.

Pawpaw is a cheerful little dog that would fit in well in most families.

Muttville’s adoption manager, Kristin Hoff, stated:

“Pawpaw is quite friendly and would suit most houses; a family or a single individual would be excellent.” He is full of energy and will enjoy an active lifestyle! He enjoys sleeping with his guardian and living inside him ».

When Pawpaw finds a home, he will not only be rescued from euthanasia, but he will also be giving John the most wonderful present of all: the knowledge that his dog will make another family happy in the same way that he made theirs.
