Gemma Holdway, a student, is 19 years old and lives on a farm in Bath, Somerset, in the southwest of England. Without knowing that they would forever alter the path of a young fox and her brothers’ lives, the father of this young woman discovered a litter of five newborn animals in one of the barns in March 2018.
The man initially believed it to be a litter of kittens, but Gemma and her partner Dan Pearse, both animal science and management students, were able to determine that it was really a litter of foxes that for some reason were not right next to him. his mom.
The young people chose to keep the kids’ temperatures stable by putting them in a box with straw, and they both developed a strong bond with one of the infants, who was really the tiniest of the litter.
Due to widespread concern that the infants could perish without their mother, they were transported to a veterinary facility for testing before being released back into the wild.
There, they were able to discover that the young fox was quite ill and had little chance of survival. She was called Vixey, and the correct thing to do was to look after her until she was completely well.
Since then, Vixey has lived quietly with the four family pups called Luna, Raisin, Nidge, and Polar Bear, being treated as one of the pack. Gemma and her partner were aware of all the care that was required to heal her.
