Priest Takes Homeless Dogs To Mass So They Can Find Family

Homeless dogs attend church every Sunday in the Paróquia de Sant’Ana Gravatá in Brazil to meet their new families. This is possible because of a very compassionate priest who cares deeply about animals and goes above and beyond for them.

Father Joo Paulo Araujo Gomes treats the stray dogs at his church with the greatest kindness and inspiration. He extends an invitation to the street canines in need of loving homes to participate in his service.

In order to attract the attention of his parishioners, Father Joo gives these stray dogs a temporary home in the parish house away from the dangers of the streets, treats their ailments at the veterinarian’s office, looks after them, feeds them, and bathes them. After they have received the necessary care and have recovered, he brings them to the church service.

The priest makes sure the dogs are the center of attention every Sunday by positioning them in a visible location.

Dogs will be dogs, and they will always be searching for a few petting and mischief, no matter how devoted and serious they may seem at the altar. Dogs frequently join the priest at the altar for some attention since they are so joyful and cute.
