Baby Chimpanzee Hugs A Stuffed Monkey After Being Rejected By His Mother

A newborn chimpanzee named Djibril had to learn how to survive on his own when his mother Kika abandoned him at the zoo in Malaga, Spain, after being rescued from a circus.

While they looked for an adoptive mother to nurture him and provide the care that humans were unable to supply, the carers had to act as the child’s surrogate parents. He took solace in a plush monkey during that time.

Djibril relocated to the BIOPARK Valencia animal park when he was 16 months old.

In this sanctuary, the animals’ wellbeing is prioritized by providing them with a suitable natural habitat that will aid in their comfort and healing. The youngster was placed with Eva, an adoptive mother, there.

Little Djibril’s beginnings were anything from simple when he first came at BIOPARK Valencia in July 2019. He was assigned to Malin, a chimpanzee, but she showed little interest in caring for the infant. Fortunately, Eva, another ape in the troop, accepted the child and provided care.

Eva had no prior mothering experience, but when she met tiny Djibril, her maternal instincts came to the fore, and the two of them triumphed in every challenge. The chimpanzee has a family now, a year after arriving at the park, according to Bored Panda.

Djibril is crucial to the survival of a subspecies that is in risk of extinction. He is a member of the so-called western chimpanzee, a species that the World Wildlife Fund says is endangered in its native habitat (WWF).
