Newborn Pig Abandoned By Her Mother Was Fighting For Her Life Until A Dog Intervened

After their cute pictures went viral, a large farm dog and a little piglet became the talk of social media, but especially after people discovered the heartwarming tale of the baby’s kind surrogate mother and the enormous farm dog who radiates nothing but affection.

Eight-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback Katjinga did an excellent job of taking on the role of mother to cranky Paulinchen, a cute orphaned baby pig.

Paulinchen was mercifully found shortly after she passed away and given to the dog, who, fortunately for her, welcomed her as one of her own.

Roland Adam, 54, and his wife Edit, 44, were Katjinga’s adopted parents, and they shared a sizable farm in Hoerstel, Germany.

Little Paulinchen was discovered by Roland as she teetered on the brink of death. She was incredibly frail and fighting for her life after being given up by her family the day after her birth.

“Wild pigs roam the area, and in our woodland, a sow just gave birth to a litter of five piglets. Paulinchen was really chilly when I took her up after finding her all by herself. I brought the pig home and handed her to Katjinga since I was certain that some foxes would murder her that very night. I believed there was a chance I could take up the responsibilities of taking care of her because she had recently given birth to a litter, who are now 10 months old, Roland added.

When their owners witnessed Paulinchen and Katjinga cuddling, they instantly fell in love, proving that real love knows no bounds and is unaffected by differences in species.

“Katjinga is the ideal mother a child could have. The small pig captured her heart. He started washing her right away as if she were one of her own puppies. Days later, she started spitting out milk once more to feed the piglet. She clearly thought of her as her own child.
