Police Officer Uses His Kayak To Save A Dog From Neck-Deep Water

Akela is a cute Boxer and Mastiff cross puppy that wandered away from home to play in his favorite pond. Unfortunately, the water was muddy, and he became stuck. Akela’s head was still above water, and he was straining to keep from sinking further into the muck, but someone noticed the stranded dog and asked for assistance; a police officer used his kayak to extract the dog from the water.

Akela was rescued from the sea by a team of police officers who responded to the call. Officer John Kuligowski was able to locate a kayak nearby, and Chief Thomas Cicerelle and his colleague Dallas Overko assisted Officer Kuligowski in approaching Akela and bringing her back to shore.

Fortunately, Akela was unharmed, and when she returned to shore, she shook herself and smiled, despite the horrific experience she had just had. The Washington Township Police Department of New Jersey (United States) chronicled the incident on her Facebook page.

In their statement, the cops said:

“Our cops were dispatched today to a k9 in trouble.” Akela, a gray boxer/mastiff, went missing and was discovered up to her neck in a deep pond nearby.

Animal Control Solutions has been entrusted with Akela’s care until her family is sought. The center shared the location of the animal’s discovery in order to assist in the search for its relatives.
