Wildlife Park Workers Self-Isolate For 3 Months To Care For Animals

As a precautionary step to avoid the spread of Covid-19, many individuals are being locked up and isolated in various regions of the world. Others chose to rest in their country residences or summer farms during the quarantine period, rather than confine themselves in their homes.

However, some employees, like one at Paradise Park in Hayle, Cornwall, UK, are making the surprising decision to self-isolate in the workplace.

They made the decision to self-isolate for three months at the facility.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the park had stated that it will temporarily restrict its doors to the public to safeguard the safety of its employees. It is critical for the sanctuary’s animals to get proper care, and in order to do so, they must ensure the health of its maintenance crew.

Four staff employees (Izzy, Emily, Layla, and Sarah-Jane) decided to self-isolate at the park after hearing the news.

They’ll be living in the park until the quarantine is lifted, but they’ll be helped by some of their coworkers who will come in during their regular shifts.

Paradise Park’s director, Alison Hales, told Boredpanda:

“While all of our keepers are passionate about the animals, several of them also have vulnerable family members at home.” They had to make a decision about staying away from work and isolated with their families when they heard the recommendation about self-isolating to battle the coronavirus.”

“But then they said they could stay at the house in Paradise Park and be there for the birds every day without jeopardizing their families’ health.”

They indicated that the major reason they chose to relocate to the park house was to be more cautious.

Well, aside from having a vulnerable family at home and not wanting to leave them in danger if things worsen and the staff is unable to go to work, the four of them will be able to perform animal care duties.

Red pandas, squirrels, Asian otters, harvest mice, and farm animals are among the 1,200 birds that call Paradise Park home.

The four self-contained wildlife sanctuary keepers revealed that they follow all of the daily rituals, including the Humboldt penguins’.

Alison claims that quarantine in the park has its benefits since you may spend your time in a natural setting.

Alison explained:

“After all the feeding and cleaning is done, it’s beautiful to wander about silently watching the birds go about their business.”

“You may talk to your favorite bird buddies, but nothing beats waking up to a tropical morning chorus in the heart of Cornwall!”

Paradise Park maintains its social media accounts up to date and offers live web cams that allow you to see the park’s activities from the comfort of your own home.

However, the park has suffered financially as a result of the closing of its amenities, as the lack of tourists has lowered its revenue.

Alison explained:

“We do everything we can to keep our keepers healthy so they can properly care for the animals; the next hurdle will be raising finances.”

As a result, employees have started a GoFundMe campaign in the hopes of financing food and other essential running costs.
