Teenager Opens A Unique Animal Shelter And Has Already Rescued 26 Animals

Eduardo Caioado, a 17-year-old Brazilian from Anápolis, has always loved animals. He has been preoccupied with rescuing abandoned animals in his community since he was nine years old.

With the help of his family, this young animal activist realized his ambition of opening his own animal refuge, the EduPaçoca Institute, a month ago.

Eduardo explained to Boredpanda:

“I aim to improve the environment around me.” And I believe that the miracle that people seek God for is in the daily actions that individuals take, whether it’s feeding a stray puppy or sending letters to an old person.”

Edward went on:

“This year, I realized a long-held ambition of mine: to create my institute.” I rented a home and had sponsors who contribute to my expenditures. Every day, I go there. I occasionally hitchhike or ride my bike for 30 kilometers, but I never grumble because it is always exactly what I had hoped for.

He added:

“I’m not looking for a dog deposit; I’m looking for a home.” I want them to know that even if they aren’t adopted, they will remain with me until they die.”

The young guy went on to say that the idea for the refuge came to him in March, when he felt compelled to save other abandoned pets. Eduardo saw that more homeless dogs emerged every day while feeding them, so he gathered ten dogs that decided to follow him.

He lives in an extremely cold place, and most pets left on the streets die of hypothermia or another ailment.

Because there are no governmental policies in the city that support animals in need, the young man decided to help.

The animal shelter is known for being a recreational nursery, where rescued canines participate in various activities in preparation for adoption.

Edward stated, ”

«I want the Institute to grow into much more than a safe haven. I want to make them happy and healthy in the recreational daycare setting so they may be adopted.”

Eduardo also claims to do a particular work with their wounded hearts, claiming that the majority of them enter fearful, frightened, hurt, and without confidence. Eduardo educates the dogs at the shelter that they can trust him and that he will always be there for them.

Edward stated, ”

“I understood that they share quite similar sentiments to us throughout those years of feeding animals on the streets.” Baiano, a dog, is continually bringing me gifts: a bottle, a bowl, or a leaf. I got the notion to design a new environment. Colors, toys, entertainment, activities, music, dancing, theme parties, and birthdays abound in this nursery.

The animal sanctuary now shelters 22 dogs and four cats, all of whom were saved by Eduardo. Despite his desire to help more canines, the institution is currently small and can only serve the most vulnerable.

Edward stated, ”

“The most difficult part is deciding who to take and who to leave on the street.” I can’t accommodate everyone because the room is still limited.”

For the time being, he is content with being able to see the joy, trust, and gratitude in the eyes of the creatures he can aid.

Although the institute is a dream come true, it remains a significant task, but Eduardo is confident in his ability to continue his work. The plan is to expand the institute in the future, both physically and financially, in order to save additional elderly and abandoned animals.

Edward stated, ”

“The ultimate objective is to find them families, but in the meanwhile, we want to make them feel at home.” I wish to help the animals’ damaged spirits as well as their bodily ailments.”

VOAA has initiated a campaign to generate funding for the EduPaçoca Institute so that it can be reformated and expanded. The money will be used to pay for food, cleaning supplies, veterinary care, the renting of new areas, and the development and restoration of the facility.
