Puppy Drags Her New Blanket Outside To Share With A Cold Stray Dog

Lana is only a puppy at 8 months old, yet she understands the importance of kindness better than others.

Lana lives in Brazil, where she and her siblings were rescued from the streets late last year. Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé adopted her not long after, and she settled into her joyful new life as a treasured pet. Despite getting everything of the love and devotion a puppy could want, Lana obviously remembers what it’s like for dogs that don’t.

Due to the recent cold weather in their area, Schaumloeffel purchased a bigger blanket this week to keep Lana warm and snug in her doghouse out front. After tucking Lana down for the night on Monday evening, she had no idea that the dog would soon sacrifice a little of her own comfort for the benefit of a new buddy.

When Schaumloeffel’s fiancé walked out the door on Tuesday morning to go to work, he realized Lana had carried the blanket outside to share it with another dog who appeared to live on the streets.

The day before, Schaumloeffel says she saw that other dog for the first time near their house. He’d raced away when she went to approach him to check for an ID tag, so she wasn’t sure if he was a stray. Lana, on the other hand, had apparently made his acquaintance and resolved to assist him.

“How amazing what she done for her friend,” says Schaumloeffel to The Dodo. “My favorite four-legged companion taught me of something crucial: charity!”

Schaumloeffel and her fiancé have spotted the dog a few times since then, but he always runs away when they approach too close. They’re hoping that if he’s lost, they’ll be able to assist him in returning home. They’ve been placing food and water out for him in the meanwhile.

After all, Lana would do the same thing if she could.

Schaumloeffel describes her as “the loveliest little puppy I’ve ever met.” “We forget how much of a difference we may make in someone’s life from time to time. This was something she reminded me of.”
