Grandma Told Her She Was ‘Too Old’ To Adopt A Dog, And She Got The Sweetest Surprise

Andrea Hijar’s grandma, who is an animal lover, has had the pleasure of owning various dogs throughout the course of her 76 years. Grandma, however, was too old to have another pet, according to local shelters and rescue organizations.

Granny was determined to open her heart and her house to another animal friend, but Andrea was startled by the replies she received when she approached various rescue groups near her Peruvian home.

Everything suggests that one of the adoption regulations of the various rescue organisations is that elderly individuals are not allowed to adopt an animal.

Andrea explained to The Dodo:

“In the end, they were turned down due to their age.” My grandma and grandfather, who are a very loving pair, were denied something that makes them extremely emotional, which made me sad.

Her grandma was heartbroken by the news, but she attempted to accept the fact that she was too elderly to have a pet and would never experience that joy again. Her granddaughter, on the other hand, did not give up and maintained her search for a suitable adoption opportunity for her grandparents.

Andrea came across a post on social media from a man who claimed to have a dog searching for a loving home. She decided to contact the man in the hopes that her grandmother’s age would not be an issue and that they would be able to adopt the dog.

The man was unconcerned about Andrea’s grandparents’ age; all he wanted was for the dog to have a safe place to live.

Andrea had this to say:

“He agreed to give us the puppy since he knew my grandparents would look after her and love her a much. My father and grandfather went to fetch her up.”

The long-awaited opportunity to surprise the grandma with the news arrived when the grandfather had the puppy called Princess in his arms. Everything had been planned for the amazing surprise; they knew the grandma would be overjoyed when she saw the puppy, and her expression spoke it all.

Andrea continued, ”

“I was very moved by his response. It was thrilling to see her so happy and content.”

Despite the fact that many people questioned the grandparents’ age, Princess could not have finer parents or a nicer household.

Andrea recognizes that getting a dog is a long process, but her grandparents are experienced pet owners. She can’t rule out the possibility that her grandparents would require assistance in the future, but that shouldn’t prevent her from adopting.

Andrea had this to say:

Adoption has a significant impact on your life. If a family is ready and willing to take a child, then go ahead and do it.
