Who doesn’t enjoy spending a day on the water?
It’s evident that these two do.
Joshua Phillips was on a boat in Puget Sound, off the coast of Washington, the other day when he noticed something unexpected: a couple of giant sea lions doing the same.
Apparently, while out for a swim, the gigantic sea creatures chose to rest their flippers by lying on top of someone’s (very small) watercraft. As you can see, the boat wasn’t built to carry such colossal guests.
Phillips was taken aback and recorded the encounter on video:
Though it’s unknown who owns the boat or how long the duo stayed, this unique encounter puts the magnitude of these animals into perspective.
Sea lions may weigh up to 2,500 pounds and grow to be 11 feet long – a fascinating tidbit to float your boat, or in this instance, nearly sink it.
