In the instance of an English greyhound named Joe, who is making everyone fall in love with his grin, the smile gives the animal’s face its unique form; it has a pair of huge teeth that are fairly comparable to those of humans.
The founder of Birmingham Greyhound Protection in England, Kerry Elliman, told The Dodo:
“He has a gigantic, massive overbite, which makes him appear a little stupid; it probably protrudes more than half an inch from his mouth, straight out… like actual teeth.”
Joe was rescued from a life of racing in Spain some years ago and needed time to acclimate to his new life as a pet.
“He’s a little closed at the moment, but he’s learning to be a pet; he enjoys his walks and, like most greyhounds, he enjoys sleeping.” He just faced his bed: for the first several days, he would tumble out of bed and land on the floor with his head.
Joe’s foster mother goes out of her way to help him heal his emotional scars and wants the world to know how amazing he is, so she decided to photograph Joe’s quizzical grin and send it to Elliman.
People admired the duo after Elliman shared images of Joe on the Birmingham Greyhound Protection Facebook page with photos of musician Freddie Mercury.
Despite the fact that Joe’s teeth are cosmetic, Elliman claims he has trouble obtaining food out of his bowl and requires assistance.
Joe is “charming,” according to Elliman; he gets along well with other dogs and children, and he is a terrific dog for a family; in fact, its unusual and lovely appearance may be its selling feature.
Elliman was confident:
“Black greyhounds are the most difficult to obtain at home; yet, because of his teeth, many people share and remark on his post.” ‘These images will give you a home because it’s so cute,’ I told the foster mother as soon as she showed me photos of her teeth.
