A kangaroo was saved from cold waters by two individuals who were nearby in Australia. David Boyd, who was on the phone with the government in Canberra about the terrified animal at the time, captured the touching rescue.
The two males can be seen approaching the scared, trembling kangaroo gently in the footage. According to Metro UK, both males approached carefully from opposite directions, arms spread.
They invited the terrified kangaroo to approach them, but the kangaroo averted its head in terror and stayed still inside the frozen Lake Burley Griffin.
The kangaroo pushed the first guy away and kicked the water away as soon as he arrived. Following that, a second guy came cautiously to assist in lifting it up and placing it in a secure location on the boardwalk.
While several onlookers were enthralled by the event, a third man stepped in to help calm the marsupial.
The kangaroo extended his hand to one of his rescuers as a mark of thanks for all his efforts as a nice show of appreciation for the assistance they provided him.
David believes this was his way of saying thank you for saving him from the icy water.
The guy wrote about the emotional experience on social media, and following the broadcast of the video on his Facebook account, he said:
“This was my morning in Canberra, alone, kudos to these folks, the guy wearing the Soldier On Top is a Navy Clearance Diver, good news, the kangaroo is alright.”
Many people who have seen the video on the Internet have praised these good people’s actions, and we all hope that the adorable kangaroo is safe. However, while these actions are admirable, we must remember that when animals are injured, sick, or fearful, they become defensive when approached and can be dangerous.
