A gorilla named Ndakasi was rescued from Virunga National Park. She has had a very tough life but her story has a lot of love and kindness.
Andre Bauma, a caretaker at the park’s gorilla orphanage, helped a lot Ndakasi. “Through a torrential rain storm that lasted all night, Andre held baby Ndakasi tightly to his bare chest to keep her warm and give her comfort,” the park staff wrote.
But Bauma never forget her. A week ago, Ndakasi passed away because of an illness. She was 14 years old. Gorilla took her final breath in Andre Bauma’s arms. Such an heartbreaking moment.
“Ndakasi took her final breath in the loving arms of her caretaker and lifelong friend, Andre Bauma,” the park wrote.
Bauma has said that they had a very close friendship.
