This rescued earless seal embraces a plush replica of himself, and it’s one of the cutest things we’ve seen in a long time. The happy seal is a resident of Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture’s Okhotsk Tokkari Center, where he was given a plush toy in his image by the staff.
The crew had no idea how attached the seal would be to his new companion, who is being hand-reared after being rescued due to injuries. Cuddles abound as he joyfully embraced and even rode his mini-me on his back!
The only marine conservation institution in Japan, the center specializes in housing earless seals. In fact, the Ainu term for earless seal is tokkari.
The center decided to post photographs of the love story on Twitter since it was too adorable not to. The public appeared to agree, as the tweet was shared over 26,000 times.
This earless seal even rides on the back of his stuffed friend!
