A Brave Small Dog Stands Up To A Predator And Defends Her Closest Companion

A courageous little 6-year-old Yorkshire terrier from Scarborough, Toronto, Canada, has become a celebrity after successfully defending her human family from a wild coyote.

Dorothy Kwan, the dog’s adoptive mother, claims that her 10-year-old daughter Lily was strolling with Macy along the street when a coyote started following them. The youngster screams for assistance as she pulls on Macy’s leash, according to surveillance footage from one of the neighbors.

Lily tried to draw the rope harder so she could sprint beside Macy, but her dog refused to move, so she let go of the leash.

A coyote is attacked by a little dog who defends her closest friend.

She told the news station Local 12:

“I rushed to the sidewalk and began shouting for assistance, but no one heard me. I just witnessed a coyote trying to attack my dog, so I started ringing doorbells and knocking on houses. And I was let in by a neighbor.

The security camera captured video of the small yorkie jumping to attack the coyote as Lily runs screaming and crying for assistance. The coyote may be seen nipping and shaking Macy in different scenes.

Fortunately, the dog is able to flee until the coyote, apparently alarmed by the girl’s screams, flees down the street.

Despite her courage in escaping the big coyote, Macy had serious injuries to her body and leg. Her injuries needed emergency surgery at the animal hospital.

The medical expense is considerable, therefore the family has set up a Go Fund Me account to help their brave daughter.

– Dorothy reminisces:

“Toronto Veterinary Hospital just called to tell me that Macy was OK when she woke up in ICU this morning. He ate some chicken and is now relaxing.

Macy was rescued five years ago, according to the woman. The dog was initially terrified of humans and other dogs, but she has now grown to be quite protective of the family.

The woman, who claims to be a single mother of two children, believes that her dog is the most important member of her family.

Macy’s mother considers herself lucky to have her in her family, telling CP24 in an interview:

She is the heroine of our story. “I’m not shocked since my dog would do anything for our family.”
